Dirtiest Food Chains in New York City

Posted on Updated on

The issue of cleanliness and safety in New York City’s restaurants has been an ongoing issue for decades. From the very first oyster carts that sold food on the streets in the 1800s to rats overwhelming fast food chains in recent years, New York has had a major perception problem as a grimy city when it comes to dining.
To clean up its act, in July 2010 the New York Health Department launched a grading system for all 23,499 active  restaurants in the five boroughs. You can go to the NYC DOH website to search their database for the latest inspection results. It’s still too early to track the full impact of the program, but opinions have quickly emerged around the city..
